The City of Lost Children

Why it’s hipster approved: The City of Lost Children (or as hipsters would say La Cité des enfants perdus) is a 1995 French fantasy film by the uber-hip directors Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro. Although their first film, Delicatessen, was amazing and Jeunet’s third film, Amelie, was hipster gold The City of Lost Children still remains one of the greatest French films ever made by hipster standards. The visual images combined with the bizarre plot created a fantastical world entirely unique to the history of cinema. To guarantee it’s place on the shelves at the Hipster Land Public Library long-time David Lynch collaborator Angelo Badalamenti was brought in to score the film.
What hipsters won’t admit: The City of Lost Children put actor Ron Perlman on the hipster radar. They were all surprised to find out he wasn’t French, which made him slightly less cool.
How to impress a hipster: All hipsters fell in love with the character Miette played by 9 year old French actress Judith Vittet. Almost all hipsters have the same question on their mind. “What ever happened to Judith?” So here is a big hipster tip: She stopped acting years ago and the now 24 year old runs a craft site called Jud’Ethik. I was kind enough to share with you what she’s up to, so please don’t bother her unless you’re really interested in her store. She doesn’t need crazy fans creeping her out.
